Words For Us App (2016)

In 2015, I investigated app development and started planning the creation of my idea for an app that would be a customizable version of the game Catch Phrase I contracted the build of the app from a developer in my network, beginning in Spring 2016. I directed the design, performed QA testing and solicited feedback from friends, and marketed the app on my own. The app was launched in the iOS app store in June 2016, and I directed bug fixes and improvements through the Fall. An Android version was also built and launched in October 2016.

Managing the development project and everything it entailed (negotiation, development timeline, product tradeoffs, launch and organic marketing strategy, bug fixing) taught me valuable lessons in product management and caught the eye of my friend, Edward Hill, who was looking for a co-founder for Fisher Guiding. Given the opportunity to join Edward, I committed to launching Fisher Guiding. I knew I had to focus my time on Fisher Guiding and ending well at my full-time job in market research, and I had to conserve my savings for the Fisher Guiding journey ahead at the expense of continuing development on Words For Us. I stopped operating Words For Us near the end of 2016, though it was an important early step in my career as an entrepreneur.
